Well, Hey There!
Thanks for stopping by to find out a little bit about me and my writing journey! I’ll keep it simple…
I’m a former municipal government analyst turned picture book writer – not really a career change that many would anticipate, eh?
It all started when my husband was offered a position at a California University which would be a difficult commute from our southwest Ontario, Canada home. So we decided to become ex-pats and bring our 3 year old (at the time) son with us across the continent. I was greeted with a very big surprise that the immigration process was slow at best and so I had to find something to keep myself busy while my son attended preschool.
Enter picture book writing! And rhyming to boot!
In the process of our move, our 8 year old Bernese Mountain Dog, “George” became ill and it became clear he would not be making the trip south of the border. We were devastated.
Once we landed in California, I finally had the opportunity to grieve my first born. Interestingly, my grieving came out as a rhyming picture book that parents could use to help their young children manage this complex event in their lives.
From there I decided to join SCBWI and have met so many amazing, supportive writer/friends. The writing community is amazing and I am so grateful that I get to work with so many amazing people.
I’m a jock, love to craft, refinish furniture, garden and WRITE!
I also love any kind of Canada memorabilia and am always craving a Tim Horton’s Steeped Tea. Please send tea!
So that’s me in a nutshell. I would be grateful if you subscribed to my blog and follow me on my writing journey!
